Jury reaches verdict in Ohio microwaved-baby case
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Jurors in Dayton, Ohio, have reached a verdict in the case of a woman accused of killing her month-old daughter by burning the child in a microwave oven.
The jury begin deliberations Thursday following closing arguments in the retrial of 28-year-old China Arnold. The verdict was expected to be announced Friday.
Arnold is accused of killing Paris Talley in 2005. She is charged with aggravated murder and could face the death penalty if convicted.
A judge in February declared a mistrial.
Prosecutors say Arnold intentionally put her baby in the microwave oven and cooked the child to death after a fight with her boyfriend. Prosecutors say the couple had argued over whether the boyfriend was the biological father.
