A few tickets remain for Kindred Spirit cooking classes
HUNTINGTON- Tickets are still available for a few events during Marshall Artists Series’ exciting culinary fundraising event, Kindred Spirits: A Celebration of Food and Drink. Many classes and events quickly sold out this season, but some a limited number of spaces still remain for a couple of our upcoming events.
Class sizes are limited, so be sure to secure your reservations early!
April 17 7-9 P.M. Tour of the Bourbon Trail
Description: Get a head start on your Kentucky Derby celebration. Travel the Central Kentucky Bourbon Trail from Lexington to Louisville (in the comfortable home of your hosts, Steve and Mary Williams), and along the way sample six fabulous bourbons. Each will be described by an expert in the libation and accompanied by foods especially prepared for bourbon or with bourbon in the recipe. $50 per person.

April 19 7 – 9 P.M. Menu a la Mailloux at Chateau Neighborgall
Description: Experience French Cuisine! You will think it is April in Paris as Francophile and debonair Huntington physician, Dr. Rich Mailloux, prepares an elegant dinner for you with wine pairings to please the palate. Using the freshest of ingredients, he will teach you that French cuisine is delicious, yet not the slightest bit intimidating. This evening is a dinner party you will want to savor, and certainly, one you will not soon forget. $100 per person.

April 20 7:30-9:30 P.M. Sparkle and Stars
Description: Mother Nature promises a glorious sunset (8:12 p.m.), a bright full moon, and shimmering stars to be experienced from high above the city on the roof-top deck of River Tower. Accompany that with beautifully paired champagnes, appetizers, and desserts and you’ll have a night to remember. $60 per person.

April 22 7-9 P.M. Custards, Puddings, Creams, and Flans
Description: When a pastry chef combines eggs, milk, and sugar and bakes them, the results may be a smooth and creamy Crème Brulee or a silky crème caramel. When the same ingredients are stirred together over gentle heat, a crème Anglaise or Bavarian cream is the result. Let Isabel “Izzy” Fox introduce you to the wonderful world of custards, puddings, crèmes, and flans. It will be a special night when the magic of making desserts is uncovered. $50 per person.

April 25 7-10 P.M. A Picture and a Pinot
Description: Come join everyone at the historic Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center, sit back with a nice glass of Pinot Noir, and enjoy the hit movie “Sideways.” This movie shot Pinot Noir into stardom as it followed the wine tasting trip of Jack and Miles to salute Jack’s final days as a bachelor. The mismatched pair soon find themselves drowning in wine, women, and mid-life crisis. $25 per person.

April 28 7-9 P.M. On the Run
Description: Janet McCormick, author of the new cookbook, “10-Minute Meals” and owner of the Tea Room Café, will demonstrate preparation of healthy ten-minute dinners, desserts, and appetizers using fresh, whole ingredients. Time may be minimized and sacrificed, but taste and presentation never are. You’ll want to come hungry for this one! $50 per person.

April 29 7-9 P.M. Scarborough Fair
Description: Essences of parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme will float through the room as renowned local caterer, Sharon Pressman, demonstrates the use of aromatic fresh herbs, straight from your garden, in the creation of appetizers, salads, and desserts. $50 per person.

May 2 7 – 9 P.M. Starters & Finishers with Mark Phillips – A Food & Wine Pairing
Description: Join special guest Mark Phillips, host of the PBS special, “Enjoying Wine with Mark Phillips,” as he takes your palate on a journey you’ll never forget! Using humor and a down-to-earth approach to wine education, Phillips will teach you the difference between Merlot and Bordeaux, and everything in between. Learn about wine pairings and cuisine, as well as the modern, progressive view of wine tasting as he brings wine to life! $125 per person.

May 3 1 - 7P.M. Whites, Reds, & Thoroughbreds – A Kentucky Derby Party and Wine Festival Event
Description: Put on your hat and pick up your mint julep! The Kentucky Derby is a national tradition, and this year’s 134th annual Derby is sure to make a splash with wine enthusiasts as it incorporates the thrill of the race with charm of the grape. Kick off this exciting day from 1 - 2:15 p.m. as special Guest Mark Phillips teaches you the ins and outs of tasting wine like a pro. Then test your new knowledge from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. at the wine festival and silent auction. From 4:30 – 7 P.M. get your own Millionaire’s Row experience as you join in the activities during the Derby party! Participate in the hat parade, enjoy a Derby inspired dinner, dance to a live band, and watch the fastest two minutes in sports as the Derby fills the big screen at the historic Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center. All day tickets $75 per person.

Seating is limited. Tickets can be purchased through the Marshall Artists Series box office, located in the Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center, or by calling (304) 696-6656 or (304) 523-5757. The box office is open Monday-Friday from noon -5 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com. Patrons can pick up tickets at any Ticketmaster outlet, as well as FYE in the Huntington Mall, and at Macy’s in the Charleston Town Center.
