MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) — Transportation officials say Interstate 64 has reopened following a fatal crash in eastern Kentucky.
State police say the interstate was closed in both direction at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday after an accident near Owingsville. Police say a tractor-trailer crashed into a car that had stopped for an earlier wreck, killing the driver of the car.
Police say 49-year-old Kenneth McKenzie of Salt Lick died at the scene. Police say truck driver Denzil Hurt of Clay City was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released.
Transportation officials say the westbound lanes of I-64 were reopened by 9 a.m. and the eastbound lanes reopened by 11:30 a.m.
Police say visibility was limited at the time of the accident due to fog.
