W.Va. museum receives $200,000 ARC grant

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The West Virginia Division of Culture and History is getting $200,000 to add educational programs for all ages at the state museum.

The grant is coming from the Appalachian Regional Commission.

The museum, located in the lower level of the Cultural Center in the State Capitol Complex, is being renovated into a 23,000-square-foot space and is expected to open next year.

Once it does, the museum will have two education centers for teachers to use. A computer lab will provide access to a virtual museum, interactive research tools and hands-on learning activities. An audiovisual room will provide space for videos and movies about the state’s history.
