Local United Way to restore historic markers
HUNTINGTON -- Community volunteers and the local United Way are looking for help to restore the historic street markers throughout Huntington.
Volunteers have been working to identify and document the condition of all street markers. A committee is asking community members to help collect this information by identifying street markers in their neighborhoods and reporting their location and condition by calling the United Way at 304-523-8929.
The committee is also seeking volunteers to clean, paint and stencil street markers.
Phase one of the project will be to clean the street markers and paint them white. This will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4. A brief training session will be conducted for volunteers prior beforehand.
Individuals interested in helping should call the United Way at 304-523-8929.
This project was submitted by Bob and Poochie Myers to United Way as a Day of Action project.
