Chesapeake cruises past Symmes Valley

CHESAPEAKE, Ohio -- Chesapeake racked up 447 yards of total offense and extended its winning streak over Symmes Valley to 18 years in a 48-6 victory over the Vikings.

Aaron Donahoe rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns and returned a fumble for another score as the Panthers dominated from start to finish.

Alex Wells also eclipsed the century mark in rushing yards, finishing with 103 yards on 15 carries and a 4-yard score.

After a 1-yard run by Donahoe gave Chesapeake a 7-0 lead at the end of one quarter, the Panthers exploded for 21 points in the second quarter, including two touchdowns just 13 seconds apart.

Drew Blake's score put Chesapeake (2-1) ahead 14-0 with 7:40 remaining in the first half before Donahoe took over just before the break.

Donahoe waltzed into the end zone on a 25-yard run with 2:29 left to increase the lead and scored on a 20-yard fumble return 13 seconds later as Chesapeake carried a 28-0 lead into the locker room.

Another fumble recovery got the scoring started in the third quarter as Trent Saunders returned the loose ball 10 yards to paydirt. Less than two minutes later, Wells scored on a 4-yard run to give the Panthers a 42-0 lead.

Following a Levi Smith touchdown run for Chesapeake, the Vikings got on the board when Nathan Dockery found the end zone after a 75-yard punt return with under four minutes remaining.

Cody Bland led Symmes Valley (1-2) with 45 yards on eight carries. The Vikings finished with 130 total yards of offense.
