Bibbee wins Senior Amateur
SISSONVILLE -- Scott Bibbee of Vienna completed an amazing run in the West Virginia Senior Amateur on Sunday with a 1-up win over Steve Fox of Huntington in the championship match.
Bibbee began the week by winning the 36-hole stroke-play crown with rounds of 68 and 74 for a 2-under-par 142 at Edgewood Country Club. In match play, he defeated Richard Vincent, Dave Pope and past champions Harold Payne and Charles Persinger before topping another former champion in Fox.
Tom Brown of Beckley outlasted John Lilly to win the Senior Flight in 22 holes. In the Silver Division (60-69), Jim Bartsch of Charleston defeated Tom Holland of Hurricane, 5 and 4. Jim Hager of Hurricane edged Spot Leach, 1-up, to capture the Gold Division title.
