Voters could decide fate of Ohio science museum
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — County commissioners in Toledo have agreed to put a tax issue on the November ballot that would provide funding to reopen the local science museum.
COSI (KOH’-sy) Toledo shut down at the end of last year when it ran out of money after voters rejected a previous levy request.
At their meeting Tuesday, Lucas County Commissioners indicated that they were impressed with the museum’s recent efforts to reach out for support from local business leaders.
Voters will be asked to approve a special five-year levy that the county auditor says would add a little over $5 to the annual tax bill for the owner of a $100,000 home.
COSI stands for Center of Science and Industry.
