Shots fired downtown early this morning

HUNTINGTON — Shots rang out about 3 a.m. today in downtown Huntington as some were leaving nightclubs, and police apprehended a car full of people moments later. They all face misdemeanor charges related to concealed weapons, and some face charges related to stolen property.
According to a report from the Huntington Police Department, officers were called to a parking lot behind the Red Iguana night club on 3rd Avenue after a report of shots being fired, though no one was injured.
A white sedan was seen leaving the area, and police spotted a white Mazda at a red light at 8th Street and 4th Avenue. A traffic stop was initiated, and all those in the car were secured for officer safety.
Police found a concealed .38 revolver under the rear section of the driver’s seat. They also found a .357 revolver wadded in a sock in the trunk, the report said. Also in the trunk was a full-face military mask, and a set of brass knuckles was found in the rear passenger area of the vehicle. Both guns were reported stolen.
Arrested were Mauryel A. Garrett, 30, of 1827 10th Ave., and Ronnie Lee Turner, 28, of 1710 18th St., who are both charged with transferring/receiving stolen property and concealing a dangerous and deadly weapon, both misdemeanors.
Also arrested were Daniel L. Johnson, 28, of 1823 9th Ave., who is charged with concealing a dangerous and deadly weapon, and Taurean Garrett, 25, of 1710 18th St., who is charged as a person prohibited from possession of a firearm, as well as transferring/receiving stolen property and concealing a dangerous and deadly weapon.
Also about 3 a.m. this morning, a woman reported that her vehicle had been damaged by gunfire in the city parking lot at 8th Street and 4th Avenue. A rear window was broken and bullet fragments were found on the rear seat. Six .45 shell casings were found in the area, according to a separate report from the HPD.
