W.Va’s Pfister helps host World’s Strongest Man
CHARLESTON — Charleston native Phil Pfister will go for his second World’s Strongest Man title in three years in his hometown starting this weekend.
Governor Manchin was in California a year ago watching Pfister compete in the prestigious powerlifting event. The governor then arranged with organizers to have it come to West Virginia.
Pfister says he hopes to do his hometown some justice. In 2006 he became the first American to win the title in 24 years.
The competition is free and open to the public. It will be held at venues around the city, with the finals at Appalachian Power Park on Sept. 14.
