Winfield Baptist offers alternative service Saturday

WINFIELD -- Winfield Baptist Church plans to offer an alternative to traditional Sunday morning church attendance by holding its third contemporary Saturday service at 7:30 p.m. March 29.

The service will feature Essential Elements, a four-member local band which features the church's praise and worship leader Dale Harper as lead vocalist.

He said the band is not a typical gospel or traditional group.

"Our music is more geared toward the young people," he said, although he added that older audiences seem to appreciate the band, too.

The evening will include refreshments, a message from Senior Pastor David Johns and singing. Doors will open at 7 p.m. with the service lasting about an hour.

Regular Sunday service will be held at Winfield Baptist starting at 10:45 a.m. The church is located at 3632 Winfield Road. For more information, call (304)586-3198.
