GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- A former central Kentucky basketball star has been released from jail after serving a 60-day sentence for violating his bond.
Jonathan "Bud" Mackey was the most valuable player at the 2007 Sweet 16 tournament for Scott County, but got into trouble when he was arrested on charges of possession of rock cocaine.
WKYT-TV in Lexington reports that Mackey was released from the Scott County Jail at 12:01 a.m. Thursday morning.
A judge has ordered that Mackey live with his grandfather in Lexington and get a full-time job or work toward his GED.
Mackey had planned to play basketball at Indiana before his arrest. His trial on drug charges begins in August.
