Wayne wins all-star softball crown

WAYNE -- With two outs and the season on the line, Shelby Fields reached on an error and Kaitlyn Arnold came home with the winning run as Wayne scored a come-from-behind 6-5 victory over Vinson in the District I 9-10 All-Stars Softball Tournament.

With the win, Wayne joins champion Barboursville as the District I representatives at the state tournament in Summersville later this month.

The game was back-and-forth throughout and Wayne came through with two runs in its final at-bat after Vinson had taken a 5-4 lead in the top of the sixth.

Hannah Meade had a home run in the loss for Vinson.
