Huntington Habitat to dedicate 66th home today
HUNTINGTON -- Huntington Area Habitat for Humanity, in partnership with the Downtown Churches Association, will dedicate the affiliate’s 66th home during a ceremony at 1:30 p.m. today at 1902 Artisan Ave. Central Christian, Fifth Avenue Baptist, First Methodist, First Presbyterian, Johnson Memorial United Methodist, St. Joseph Catholic, St. Paul Lutheran and Trinity Episcopal all participated in the build. The churches provide a financial contribution, volunteer labor and prepared lunches for volunteers three days a week. Carla Griffin, a behavior rehabilitation specialist with Prestera, will be the recipient of the new home, along with her daughter Marcy, son Kai and granddaughter Ahleeyah. Their home is the third of at least five
to be built as part of the Artisan Avenue Re-Development Project.
Habitat is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian ministry with a mission of partnering with qualified families in need and providing them the opportunity for safe, decent, affordable housing.
