CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) _ The West Virginia Department of Agriculture says some senior citizens may qualify for vouchers for free produce at local farmers' markets.
Officials say senior citizens who qualify can begin signing up for the Senior Farmers< Market Nutrition Program at senior centers throughout the state.
The program provides those eligible with $20 worth of coupons that can be used for fresh produce at local farmers' markets.
Participants must be at least 60 years old. A household of one must make less than $19,240, and a household of two must make under $25,900. The state ag department is administering the program through a $520,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
