U. of Louisville football player Trent Guy shot
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) —University of Louisville football player Trent Guy was injured early Saturday morning in a shooting in downtown Louisville, according to a school football spokesman.
The shooting happened outside a parking garage near a club and was reported around 2:25 a.m., said Louisville police spokesman Phil Russell.
U of L football spokesman Rocco Gasparro said the 20-year-old junior wide receiver was taken to University Hospital, where he was in stable condition after surgery for a gunshot wound in the back.
“I was able to spend some time with Trent Guy this afternoon,” Gasparro said Saturday. “He is in stable condition and are fortunate that his injuries aren’t as severe as they could be.
“At this time, we expect him to have a full recovery, but it’s too early to speculate on his playing status,” he said.
Russell declined to say if Guy was the victim shot, citing a police department policy, but confirmed there was a shooting involving a 20-year-old male.
