Marshall baseball falls to Kent State

KENT, Ohio -- Kent State pitchers limited Marshall to five hits and a lone run Tuesday in a 5-1 baseball victory at Schoonover Stadium.

Justin Gill (3-0), Brett Weibley and Reid Lamport pitched for the Golden Flashes. Marshall starter Shane Farrell (0-1) went five innings.

Kent State struck for three of its runs in the second inning. John Lydic had an RBI double while Ryan Tokarz and Doug Sanders contributed run-scoring singles.

Adam Yeager manufactured the Marshall run in the fifth inning. Yeager walked and advanced with a pair of stolen bases before scoring on Brandon Casamassima's infield hit.

Greg Rohan for Kent State (22-15) hit his ninth home run of the season in the bottom of the fourth to complete the scoring.

Casamassima and Victor Gomez both had two hits for the Thundering Herd.

Marshall (19-20-1) plays a 6 p.m. game today at Ohio University.
