Firefighters respond to small fire Friday afternoon
HUNTINGTON — A stack of mattresses beside a garage near the 600 block of 6th Avenue caught fire just before 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
Four Huntington fire trucks responded to the scene and quickly distinguished the fire as it approached outbuildings on either side.
Firefighters were still assessing the damage and had not spoken to the property owner yet early Friday afternoon, according to Huntington Fire Captain Scot Miller.
Miller said some smoke damage likely was done to the garage. He called the stack of six to 10 mattresses and other furniture a nuisance.
“That’s a lot of mattresses,” he said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
