This week, The Herald-Dispatch announces its annual Citizen Awards, which recognize citizenship, volunteer efforts and accomplishments in business, athletics and the arts. Here are the categories:

WEDNESDAY: Todd Shell named the recipient of the Zack Binkley Award for Community Service. He was recognized for his volunteer efforts, including his sixth year coaching Little League 3. He has been credited with the success of the league's $1.8 million ballfield project.

THURSDAY: Nancy Carter named the recipient of The Herald-Dispatch Award for the Arts. Carter was recognized for her longtime work as a dance teacher at Nancy's School of Dance.

TODAY: Harry Zimmerman named the Business Innovator of the Year. Zimmerman was recognized for helping a small, homegrown company thrive, providing priceless jobs in the Tri-State and inspiring those around him with not only his good business sense, but simple goodness.

SATURDAY: The Lowell Cade Sportsperson of the Year.

SUNDAY: The Citizen of the Year.
