Barboursville mother and daughter reported missing

A mother and daughter from Barboursville were reported missing Friday, about 48 hours after the two left for what was supposed to be a trip to see a friend in Ohio.

Jennifer Rose Browning, 31, told her fiance’, Timothy Blake, that she and her daughter were going to visit a friend in Ohio. Blake told the Barboursville Police Department that they never arrived and he hasn’t heard from her since.

Police Chief Alan Meek said a friend of Browning’s told officers she was going to Kentucky to visit an old friend, and police have reason to  believe she may be in Grayson.

“People are free to leave,” Meek said. “We just want to make sure she left on her own accord.”

Officers also have talked to family members, who said it’s not unlike Browning to take off, but said she usually leaves her daughter, 11-year-old Bailey Elise Burton, with family member or friend.

According to the police report, Blake said he has contacted Browning’s employer and Barboursville Middle School, and both have told him that neither had reported on Thursday or Friday.

Blake also stated in the report that he and Browning have a good relationship and didn’t think she would have left him. Officers also noted in the report that many of Browning’s and Burton’s belongings are still at their apartment.

Browning and Burton left in Blake’s 1998 Chevrolet Malibu. It’s a gold, four-door sedan with West Virginia license plate 8LJ817.

Browning is described as 5-foot-5, 220 pounds, with medium-length brown hair and green eyes. Burton is described as 5-4, 172 pounds, with brown eyes.
