HUNTINGTON — Cabell Huntington Hospital invites high school students who are interested in pursuing a career in the medical field to participate in a Medical Explorer Post at the hospital.

The post meetings begin at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, inside the hospital’s entrance at the Marshall University Medical Center.

The first event will focus on the field of radiology. Students and parents will tour the Cabell Huntington Hospital Radiology Department and learn how medical imaging technologies like X-Ray, CT (computed tomography) and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) play a role in health care. Students will also be able to see a live fetal ultrasound.

Medical Explorer is a program for students ages 14 to 20 who are interested in medical services. Students will take part in workshops, hands-on experiences and will listen to guest speakers from Cabell Huntington Hospital. Medical Explorers will meet once a month and each session will last about one hour.

A $7 annual registration fee is due at the first event.
