WURTLAND, Ky. (AP) -- Family and friends came together to remember Army Spc. Jeremy Gullett, whether or not they ever met the 22-year-old volunteer firefighter, soldier, husband and father.
People gathered at the middle school for his funeral Saturday and many more stood alongside the highway in his hometown of Greenup for his funeral procession.
His casket was carried on a black-draped fire truck of the Little Sandy Volunteer Fire Department.
Gullett, a member of the 101st Airborne Division based at Fort Campbell, was killed May 7 when an explosive device detonated near the vehicle he was in while serving in Afghanistan.
