Governor encourages participation in school contest
West Virginia fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth graders are invited to participate in t he 2008 Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge.
The competition encourages students to explore scientific concepts and creatively communicate their findings. This year’s theme is “The Science of Space,” and competitors will create short videos demonstrating their understanding of a scientific concept related to space, modeling the same techniques creative educators use when they employ digital media or convey critical or complex concepts to students.
The deadline for entries is Sunday, June 15. In July, 51 semifinalists will be announced, one from every state and the District of Columbia.
