CHARLESTON -- Hundreds of Marshall University fans descended on the state capital Wednesday night for the annual "Paint the Capital City Green" pep rally, the largest such indoor event for Thundering Herd fans in the nation.
The event was conducted at the Embassy Suites Hotel, where fans and alumni heard from Marshall President Stephen Kopp and head football coach Mark Snyder and got to meet coaches and players.
A tailgate spread kicked things off at 6 p.m., with music from members of the Marching Thunder and an appearance from the university cheerleaders and mascot Marco. It was followed by a formal program. The event was sponsored by Friends of Coal.
