Communication with the people you love the most is sometimes difficult -- especially if they are teenagers. I'm not sure if it is a privacy thing or a power trip. When they were small they would talk your ear off; and then they reach about 14, and you might have to bribe them with Taco Bell just to find out what time they want to go to the mall.

Culinary cuisine to commemorate country's courage

It's the annual celebration commemorating the courage and faith of our founding fathers in their pursuit of liberty to adopt the Declaration of Independence in 1776 in Philadelphia, Pa.

DEAR ABBY: I was recently invited to a friend's home for dinner. When I arrived just a few minutes past the time I was told the meal would be served, I found that everyone had finished eating. I was asked if I'd like something to eat and offered a plate, but refused because I would have felt uncomfortable eating alone while everyone else stood around visiting. I stayed about an hour and left.
