Robert Eliot Hinckley and Mary Lu Roach Hinckley celebrated their 50th anniversary on April 6, 2013. They were married in 1963 at the Winfield United Methodist Church by the Rev. Larry Greenwood.
Robert was born to the late David and Helen Hinckley and raised in Osterville, Mass. Mary Lu grew up in Winfield, W.Va., the daughter of the late Leland and Lillian Roach.
Robert is retired from the United States Air Force with the rank of SM Sergeant after 24 years of service. Following his military service, he retired after 19 years from AEP John Amos Plant. Mary Lu worked as a Civil Service Employee in Washington, D.C., where she and Robert met. Mary Lu is a homemaker and served as a Sunday School teacher for 30 years as well as other ministries in their church.
They are blessed with one daughter, Tina Marie Rhodes. She and her husband, Clyde Rhodes, reside in Chester, Va. They are also blessed with one grandson, Nathan Elliott, who just turned 1.
Bob and Mary Lu are members and active at the Winfield Community Church, where Robert is an Elder. They have resided in Winfield, W.Va., for the past 36 years. The couple will be celebrating later this month by taking a trip to Tulum, Mexico, with their family.
