CELEBRATIONS
Adkinses' 60th
Rev. Caudle Adkins Jr. and Patsy Ruth Stidham Adkins are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. The couple was married July 3, 1949, by Rev. Jeff Curry, at the home of the bride's parents in Holden, W.Va.
Rev. Adkins is the son of the late Caudle Adkins Sr. and Victoria Pack Adkins. Mrs. Adkins is the daughter of the late Jerry E. and Mary Summerville Stidham.
The couple moved to Huntington in September 1952.
Rev. Adkins is an ordained Free Will Baptist minister who retired from Huntington Alloys in 1987. He was pastor of several churches in West Virginia and Ohio and was active for more than five decades in evangelistic ministry. For the past 31 years, he has hosted a weekly radio program, "The Lighthouse," each Saturday afternoon on WEMM-FM.
Mrs. Adkins worked for the Hoffman Urological Clinic, Dr. Beckett Martin and Nierman's Pharmacy.
They are the parents of three sons, C.J. (Linda) Adkins of Ashland, Ky., Bruce (Sandi) Adkins of Huntington and Carl (Sarah) Adkins of Roswell, Ga.
They have six grandchildren, Jay (Michelle), Benji (Leigh Anne), Joshua, Caleb, Kate and Alex Adkins; four great-grandchildren, Quint, Will, Canon and Asher Adkins; and four other great-grandchildren by marriage.
An open reception will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at Westmoreland Baptist Church, 3401 Hughes St., Huntington.
