Melanie Dawn Elkins and Michael Keith Asbury were married May 26, 2012, at First United Methodist Church in Ironton, Ohio. The Rev. Wayne Young performed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Jeff and Nancy Elkins of Ironton. She is the granddaughter of Helen Schafer Bruce and the late Charles Bruce of Ironton, and the late John and Cathryn Long Elkins of Ashland, Ky.

The groom is the grandson of Tom and Mabel Hawkins of Hilliard, Ohio, and the great-grandson of Dorothy Gilkerson of Huntington.

Presented by her father, the bride was attended by her sister Heather Elkins Mains as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Amanda Brown and Rachel Walker, friends of the bride.

Chadd Bartholomew served as best man. The groomsmen were Curtis Bartholomew and Alex Kaliski, friends of the groom, and Alva Wieteki, friend of the bride.

The reception was held at the Crump & Field Ballroom in Ashland, Ky.

The bride is a graduate of Ironton High School, and she will graduate from Marshall University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. The groom is a graduate of Ohio State University and is employed at Marathon Petroleum.

The couple honeymooned on the Caribbean Island of Jamaica, and is currently residing in Ashland, Ky.
