The Gays of Timberlake Estates celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday evening, April 4, at a dinner party in the formal dining room of The Omni Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Va. A small family gathering is planned later in the month in Charleston. The couple was married on April 4, 1964, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, St. Albans, by the late Rev. Edmund Weinheimer, followed with a wedding reception at the Wren's Nest Tea Room, also in St. Albans.
Mrs. Gay, the former Paddy Sue Carder of Cross Lanes, retired in 2012 from Natural Resource Partners and now spends her free time volunteering community service. Mr. Gay retired from Ashland Petroleum Company (now Marathon Ashland Petroleum) as manager of environmental engineering. He also served 28 years of combined active and reserve duty in the U.S. Air Force, retiring with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
They are the proud parents of a loving daughter, Mrs. Julie Anne Weekley, son-in-law, Chris, also of Huntington, as well as doting grandparents to Lauren, Josh and Kaleb, the joys of their lives.
Formerly of St. Albans, the couple has been residents of Huntington since 1980.
