Millard and Betty Hagley Price are celebrating their Platinum Wedding Anniversary on Sept. 16, 2013.

Millard's family was from Ranger, W.Va., but moved to Lesage with his sister, Ethel Roach, to help raise her children.

Millard first spotted Betty when he walked past the Hagley home to go to church every Sunday. He finally approached her while she was sitting in a pew at Oak Hill United Brethren Church. They instantly fell in love and soon thereafter married.

Along with Betty's mother, Hallie Jefferson-Hagley, Millard and Betty traveled from Lesage to Huntington, where they applied for a marriage license at the Cabell County Courthouse.

They immediately proceeded across Fifth Avenue to the First Congregational Church and were married by the Rev. Ira D. Black on Sept. 16, 1943.

When asked what their secret is to staying together for so many years, they reply, "Live for the Lord and keep your marriage Christ centered."

Millard served in the US Army and retired from the Huntington VA Medical Center as a carpenter and Betty was a homemaker. They are devoted members of First Church of the Nazarene in Huntington.

They are the parents of Gloria (George) Hanna. Their grandchildren are Bruce Hanna from Atlanta, Ga., Stephanie (Bashir) Adili from Charleston, S.C., and Greg (Jamie) Hanna from Huntington.

They have three great-grandchildren: Quentin, Nathan and Reagan Hanna, and one on the way (Milan Adili).
