Think aging happens in your skin (wrinkles!), your joints (the "aargh" when you get out of a chair) and maybe your mind ("what did I come into the living room for?")? Truth is, aging happens deep within your cells, in little structures called telomeres. New research adds to evidence that you have some control over them.
Cute yoga clothes -- and cute yoga instructors -- didn't hurt in turning yoga into a hugely popular phenomenon. But the real reason everybody's doing it: It makes you look and feel young and fantastic. And it's legal, and you can do it in public. Want more reasons? Here's a short list of what it does:

HUNTINGTON -- Three years ago, Connie Morabito-Akerley was only one of seven certified Zumba instructors within a 50-mile radius of Huntington. As of this month, there are 255 Zumba instructors in the Tri-State area.
When it comes to your arteries, we (and YOU) want them to be as clean as possible. So it makes sense that you're better off if an artery is 50 percent blocked than if it's 90 percent blocked, right? Oddly, not always. One strange aspect of heart disease is that sometimes the person with a worse buildup of stuff in his or her arteries is better off than someone with less of a waste dump there.

When it comes to how long your life will be, you can blame your parents. But only a little bit. If your parents got divorced when you were a kid, you have an elevated risk of dying earlier than your peers -- in fact, you're 44 percent more likely to die earlier than your expected age compared with people who had parents that stuck together (for better or worse).

Can't believe that that rich-tasting, satisfying, 500-calorie entree that was marked with the "healthy" symbol was only 500 calories? It might not have been.
Getting truly fit means incorporating a strength training program to your routine; but step into the weight room and many exercisers fear the worst -- bulking up like Hulk Hogan or getting seriously injured. With benefits like staving off osteoporosis, revving your metabolism and even making you look thinner, strength training is a must for any workout routine.
You know how you were going to quit smoking in the new year? Well, don't worry if that hasn't happened yet. The most effective way to quit smoking is to do it 30 days from now. Really.

Want to be around for the next 10 or 50 years? Or even long enough to find out what happens in the final episode of "Lost"? Then hold the cheese fries. And the voodoo doughnut burger (yes, that's an actual burger served on a doughnut in a Portland, Ore., doughnut shop. NO, we're not giving you the address!). And teach your kids to lay off the doughnut served in public school breakfasts (doesn't matter that they're fortified!).
We hear you: Finding a spouse or a job is easy compared to finding the right doctor. So if a change in insurance or a desire for a different bedside manner has sent you physician shopping, use this list to make the search easier:
Whoever suggested that a "hill of beans" means that something is inconsequential wasn't looking carefully at those beans (and didn't have our recipe for our Cannellini Cilantro Hummus). These legumes are nutritional gold mines. Here's a short list of what beans offer:

The best way to keep your mom's mind sharp might be to send her to kindergarten. When older adults joined kindergarten through third-grade classrooms -- to help out, of course -- the kids achieved more.
