'Weight Loss War' inspires InfoCision employees

June 25, 2009 @ 12:00 AM

HUNTINGTON -- The pounds are falling off one group of Huntington employees.

InfoCision Management Corp. recently completed its annual 12-week, "Weight Loss War" contest. The 28 participants in Huntington lost more than 400 pounds, according to Matt Feltrup, public relations specialist for InfoCision.

In Huntington, call center manager Tracy Howard led the way by losing more than 22 percent of her total body weight.

"The money was a big motivating factor for our team," Howard said in a prepared statement. "The Weight Loss War is a great opportunity for people who need that little extra motivation to get healthier. During the contest, our on-site fitness center was always packed with people working to shed some pounds, and regardless of the reason, that is great."

The contest, subsidized by InfoCision, rewards employees with cash prizes for losing weight. There were male and female categories for most total pounds lost and highest percentage of weight lost, with the winners receiving $1,000, and runners-up receiving $250.

InfoCision's Weight Loss Wars are part of a company-wide health and wellness initiative implemented five years ago. The initiative includes on-site fitness centers, on-site physicians, nutritional education, tobacco cessation assistance, vending machines with 70 percent healthy options, annual health fairs and more.
