Get Healthy Tri-State: Tri-State to offer several healthy activities in upcoming week
HUNTINGTON -- A number of health-conscious support groups, classes and health screenings are scheduled in the Tri-State this week.
Some of the activities offered in the area :
KDMC HEALTH SCREENINGS, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Lawrence County Health Department, 2122 S. 8th St., Ironton. Health screening includes total cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure and blood oxygen testing. Heart and stroke education also provided. Fasting is not required, and no appointment necessary.
PRENATAL AND PARENTING CLASS, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, in Room 205 of St. Mary's Medical Center's Regional Heart Institute. The class is open to expectant mothers and their coaches. Please call 304-526-1387 for registration and fees.
FAMILY HEALTHY HEART DAY, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at KYOVA Mall, 10699 U.S. 60, Ashland. King's Daughters Medical Center is sponsoring a health screening on total cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure and blood oxygen testing. Heart, stroke, tobacco, heart failure and early heart attack care education also provided. Children's activities including Heart Challenge Course and heart bingo offered. "GO RED FOR WOMEN" COOKING FOR HEART HEALTH, 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, at Huntington's Kitchen, 911 3rd Ave., Huntington. Cooking demonstration by Ashley Thompson. Come and enjoy a sampling of heart healthy desserts, a live cooking demonstration and a chance to win prizes. Wear red. SUICIDE SURVIVORS SUPPORT GROUP, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, in Room 205 of St. Mary's Medical Center's Regional Heart Institute. The group is for those who have lost a loved one to suicide. Free, confidential and open to the public. For more information, call 304-526-6014.
