Healthy habits: New column to offer tips, raise awareness of healthy changes
The new year is just beginning and for those of you who have chosen to make changes in 2013, your resolve is still fresh and absolute.
January also marks the beginning for Healthy Habits 2013, a partnership which includes Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, Cabell Huntington Hospital and St. Mary's Medical Center and seeks to promote awareness about a healthy and active lifestyle. We have joined forces to work toward a healthier community which will lead to a happier, more productive community. Every Friday in this column (thank you Herald Dispatch!), you will find tips and suggestions for simple ways to integrate change into your daily living. Some advice will be easy to implement, other tips will be a little more challenging. Remember, though, even the smallest changes can be effective. So whether your changes are easy or not-so-easy, Healthy Habits 2013 is committed to helping you stay the course.
Each month, these columns will highlight one topic ranging from adopting a tobacco-free lifestyle to driving safety tips and the integration of physical activity in to daily living. Our goal is a simple one; To inform and encourage area residents on ways to improve their health. In addition to the weekly column, there is also a Facebook page, www.facebook.com/healthyhabits2013. The Tri-State area is a wonderful place to call home. Developing new healthy habits in 2013 will make it a healthier place to live as well. Happy New Year!
