TRAINING: Cabell Midland and Huntington high schools will provide orientation sessions for the schools' random drug testing programs on Wednesday, July 30. Attendance is mandatory for any high school student who will compete on one of the schools' athletic teams at any point during the year or for any student who plans to drive and park on campus.
Students will not be permitted to practice or compete on an athletic team or receive a parking pass unless they have participated in an orientation session and signed a drug testing consent form. Parents or guardians also must sign the consent form. Parents or guardians of students who do not participate in athletics or drive to school also can voluntarily have their child placed in the random testing pool, but those parents and guardians also must attend the training session.
The training at Cabell Midland starts at 9 a.m., while the Huntington High training starts at 1 p.m. It will last about two hours and consist of a review of the drug testing policy, a presentation to educate parents and students about the effects of drug use and an overview of the actual drug testing process.
