Jungle duo draws big crowds to branch libraries
HUNTINGTON -- Jungle Judy and Darling Dale visited four of Cabell County's branch libraries this week, including Guyandotte and Cox Landing on Wednesday.
But it was their animals that likely drew the large crowds of children, upward of 100 combined Wednesday. Children learned about and got to pet a python, tropical bird, tame rats and an iguana.
More animal fun continued Thursday when Randy Urian from Wild Bird Unlimited visited the Milton and Gallaher branches.. Urian presented an interactive program on discovering a bird refuge in your own backyard.
Next week, Linda Hamilton brings "Fun with Lego" with visits to the Guyandotte branch at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, and 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at the Cox Landing branch. She'll also be at the main library in downtown Huntington at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 7.
Magic with Dr. Mirage returns at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, at the Barboursville branch. A "Science Fun" workshop will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, July 1 at the Milton branch. Children are encouraged to bring a laundered cotton T-shirt and wear older clothing. A visit to April Dawn is planned afterward.
At 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, the downtown library presents a puppet show that features music.
