Local 11-year-old among 13 recognized in Kohl's program
BARBOURSVILLE -- Kohl's Department Stores has released its state winners for the annual "Kohl's Kids Who Care Scholarship Program."
Among West Virginia's 13 winners is 11-year-old Jonathan Ross of Barboursville.
There are about 2,000 others nationwide who are being honored for the good deeds they performed in their communities through volunteering. Ross and the other West Virginia winners will receive a $50 gift card and recognition certificates.
The winners also have qualified for the chance to receive a $1,000 regional scholarship for post-secondary education. That will be announced in July. An additional $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to 10 national winners, with another $1,000 going to a nonprofit organization of those winners' choice. Those will be named in late July.
