HUNTINGTON -- Certified retirement consultants will be at both Cabell Midland and Huntington high schools from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, to help employees understand the pension plan transfer.

It's the only time employees in the Teachers' Defined Contribution plan can receive one-on-one assistance to aid in their decision on whether to switch to the Teachers Retirement System. All decision cards must be mailed to the Consolidated Public Retirement Board by Monday, May 12.

There are roughly 19,000 state education employees eligible to transfer, but it will take at least 65 percent electing to switch for it to be enacted. Of the 12,343 needed, less than 3,000 had sent their transfer papers in as of May 5.

For more information about the retirement system transfer, visit www.wvretirement.com or call 1-866-413-3985 any time from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information on the after-school consultant meetings on Wednesday afternoon, call 304-528-5345.
