Students dress like principal as part of American Education Week
HUNTINGTON -- Southside Elementary principal John Hanna read his newly-published book "Vincent J. Muggs: What If" to his students and those from Central City Elementary on Thursday, Nov. 19.
His audience looked oddly familiar, as well, because that day also was "Dress Like John Hanna Day," as part of American Education Week.
The books chronicles a 9-year-old's journey into the world of what if. Hanna laid out the colorfully illustrated book, but the actual artwork was done by Miho Egnor, the mother of a former student. He said his wife is in the book four times, along with his cardiologist and the custodian at Southside.
While the book is fun, readers will notice various bolded words throughout the stories. Hanna said there is a glossary in the back to make the experience educational as well.
He also held a book signing for parents on Friday after school.
The book is available at Empire Books and News and online at www.barnesandnoble.com.
