BARBOURSVILLE -- Martha Elementary, which ends its year early on May 22 to aid in the opening of the new school in August, is holding an array of activities during the next two weeks.
At 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 8, the fourth- and fifth-graders will present "American Pop Forever," a musical featuring the rock 'n' roll of the 1950s, '60s, '70s and '80s.
From 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 10, the school will host its spring carnival. The event will feature more than a dozen activities, raffles and food, with the proceeds helping to pay for new playground equipment.
On Tuesday, May 20, the school will have its WESTEST celebration day, featuring a walk-a-thon for the playground equipment. There also will be a picnic that afternoon for parents, students and staff.
Fifth-graders will graduate at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at neighboring Elmwood Church.
Teachers and staff will be moving into the new Martha Elementary School from May 23 through June 10.
