HUNTINGTON -- Huntington native Jonathan Patrick, known to friends as "Jon-Pat," graduated from Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., on May 31.
During his two years there, his mother, Kim Patrick of Huntington, said her son excelled in academics and extra-curricular activities. He was named the 2008 Outstanding Cadet, received the Colin Powell Medal for Leadership, was chosen by the faculty to be a senior facilitator for the Class of 2009's Junior Retreat and was voted "most intimidating" by his classmates.
He also was one four team captains on the football team, and Patrick also signed to play college football at Glenville State College.
Patrick also moved up the ranks quickly, as he was chosen to attend Officer Candidate School in 2007. He also was selected to be the executive officer of Bravo Company, stepping up to commanding officer when called for.
He is the stepson of Thomas Crews, the grandson of Ron and Ann Patrick of Barboursville and the great-grandson of Julia Parsley of Lenore.
Hargrave Military Academy is a college preparatory secondary boy's military boarding school that espouses Judeo-Christian values. The Academy provides daily structure to parents and young men seeking stronger college acceptance, better grades and improved social performance.
