Barr to continue as president of Cabell BOE
HUNTINGTON -- Ted T. Barr will continue serving as president of the Cabell County Board of Education following a unanimous vote at Monday night's board meeting.
"I look forward to serving as president and hope to do so for many years to come," Barr said to the board.
Various members of the board said that Barr has done "fine work" and things have been "running smoothly" during his previous term as president.
After Barr was elected, he appointed Dr. Greg Borowski as vice president for the board.
The board also voted to continue the current meeting schedule of every first and third Tuesday of each month, excluding special circumstance.
The board members also decided, after an executive session to seek legal counsel, to convey the West Middle School property to the Cabell County Community Service Organization for a Federal Housing and Urban Development project.
Robert Roswall, the executive director of the Cabell County Community Service Organization, said that project would convert the property into housing for those 62 and older.
The board members said that by conveying the property, they directly help the community as well as give up the financial responsibility to maintain the property.
"There is no use in having an eyesore of a vacant building when it could be put to good use," said board member Suzanne Oxley.
