Covenant School headmaster, teachers kiss pig for fundraiser

March 03, 2011 @ 11:30 PM

HUNTINGTON -- The headmaster and two teachers from Covenant School puckered up to kiss Bobby the pig Thursday afternoon as part of a challenge.

Headmaster Tom Bowen agreed to kiss a pig if the gym was filled last week for the final boys' and girls' basketball games. It also turned into a fundraiser for the teams' uniforms.

"It was a unique way without asking everyone for a dollar," Bowen said.

In addition, teachers put plastic piggy banks in front of their classrooms to see who could collect the most money and get stuck kissing the pig. That honor went to Susan Jimison, who brought in nearly $144. Lori Magnusson, another teacher, also decided to give the pig a kiss.

The pig, owned by Stephanie Appleton, also visited kindergarten students prior to assembly.
