In Thursday's Entertainment Tri-State, I gave folks a heads up that red-smoking-Louisiana hot slide player Sonny Landreth releases his new CD "From the Reach" on Tuesday.
What I didn't have space to mention then was that the recent "Mountain Stage" show at Ashland's historic Paramount Arts Center featuring Landreth, Kathy Mattea, Tim O'Brien, Abigail Washburn & Sparrow Quartet and Tift Merritt will air June 21 on West Virginia Public Radio and then later that weekend on radio stations 'round the globe.

More Lynyrd Skynyrd
It's hard to believe but we've got both Hank Williams Jr. and Lynyrd Skynyrd in Huntington tonight.
Skynyrd was last here in 2002. I couldn't find a mention of Hank Jr., here in Huntington in the past decade, though he has played Charleston and Pikeville, Ky.
If you need a second helping of Skynyrd even after tonight, you can get one this summer.
Skynyrd will hit the road in August with Huntington's adopted rock 'n' roll son Kid Rock.
Rock, who was heard on WAMX 106.3 and other stations plugging for the candidacy of Don Maynard, hooks up with Skynyrd for the Rock and Rebels Tour that hits the region on Aug. 14 at Riverbend in Cincinnati.

Some props to fellow Franklin Furnace, Ohio, native Marti Dodson.
You may not know the name, but Dodson's the songwriter and singer behind such well-written, hook-laden radio hits as "Girl Next Door," with her Columbus-based rock band Saving Jane.
I'm sending out props because Saving Jane just went over the 10 million mark in MySpace plays on the band's Web site. As of Tuesday, they were at 10,095,529 and counting.
You go, marching band girl.
You can catch one of Dodson's new songs, "Super Girl," on race car driver Danica Patrick's Web site at www.danicaracing.com.
Send in those music videos
Registration for our Music Makers 2008 contest started this past Monday.
This is an online contest where singers, performers or bands can enter their demo tapes online and the public will vote for them.
The top three winners will perform at the Dawg Dazzle 4th of July concert at Pullman Square. The grand prize winner will receive a prize package worth $1,000. We're doing this contest in partnership with Kindred Communications. (93.7 The Dawg and The Planet 92.7.)
It's a great way to promote local music and raise some coin for a good cause to boot.
Registration fee is a $10 donation to the local Muscular Dystrophy Association chapter and the voting donations go to support our Education Outreach program.

Incoming: Beatles invasion
A tip of the pint glass to Pat Guthrie and crew over at the V Club, corner of 6th Avenue and 8th streets.
They've just celebrated their second-year anniversary. In two short years, the father and son team have brought in an eclectic mix of bluegrass, electronica, reggae, roots rock, pop, funk, blues and just about everything in between, including the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus.
Next Saturday, May 24, is time for a Memorial Day Weekend Beatles invasion in Huntington.
Pete Best, the original drummer for The Beatles, is bringing in his band of Englishmen to rock the joint, and out on the new patio will be Charleston's own Beatles tribute band Rubber Soul.
Joe Pritchard, formerly of The Recipe, will also be there as well.
I've got a pair of tickets to giveaway for the show. Be the first caller at 304-526-6686 to answer this question: How many weeks was "Eight Days A Week," on the charts?
Buttonfly on the wall
Andrea Anderson is used to being at the Java Joint wailing on her banjo with her punked-up acoustic band, The Buttonflies. Today, she's on the wall.
Anderson's latest artworks will be featured in a new exhibit along with Sean Laishley, a BFA printmaking student at Marshall.
The music-filled art opening starts at 7 p.m. with live music from Smokestack and the Foothill Fury and The Buttonflies.
The Buttonflies also will be playing Thursday, May 22, at the Mended Reeds Youth Home Silent Auction Fundraiser at Ohio University Southern Campus in Ironton.
Looking for some Guyandotte rock
Debbie Cooper of Guyandotte's neighorhood group, The Guyandotte Historical Improvement Association, is looking for some youth rock bands or a DJ to fire up the amps for some of the group's community dances.
They've had one dance at the school for kids (ages 5 to about 12) and want to have some more.
If you would like to pitch in and help, give her a call at 304-412-1070.
