CHORUS LEADERS: The River Magic Chorus of Sweet Adelines has some new leaders. New team manager is Carol Spence, finance manager is Carol Berry, membership manager is Debbie Yeager, performance manager is Pat Quackenbush, PR/marketing manager is Julie Taylor and communications manager is Linda Hall. The chorus director is Beverly Miller.
BOUNCING: Dr. and Mrs. Joseph "Jay" Abalos of Pittsburgh, Pa., are proud parents of a new baby boy -- Jose Ignacio "Nacho," born March 25. Nacho has a 2 1/2-year-old brother, Lowell Remegio "Remy." Mrs. Abalos is the former Sarah Beth Bird, daughter of Elizabeth Bird of Huntington, and the late Lowell R. Bird. Jay, a Marshall University Medical School graduate, will complete an internal medicine residency at UPMC, McKeesport, Pa., and begin practice in Sharon, Pa., in January. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Jose Abalos of Parkersburg, W.Va.
17-POUNDER: 13-year-old Kelley Davis of East Lynn, was the only youth in Wayne County to tag a turkey on Youth Day on April 26. The Wayne Middle student tagged a 17-pounder with a 12-gauge shotgun. Kelley is the son of Robert Davis and Robin Davis, both of East Lynn.
VISIT: Booth Scholar seniors from Tolsia, Spring Valley and Wayne High schools went to England and Ireland during April spring break. While there, the group toured Oxford University, Dublin's Trinity College and scenic wonders. Participants were Meg Smith, Hannah Adkins, Caroline Auvil, Kelly Marcum, Jessica Watts, Ashley Quaranta, Madaloyne Hodge, Jordan Mannon, Rebecca Thompson, Rachel McGlone, Kyle Burner, Jill Wellman, Rachel Lewis, Megan Price, Heath Booton, Clay Crabtree, Benji Dillon, Kenny Muncy, Jameson Wellman, Cyndi Fuller and Katey Ellis.
IT'S FAIR: A display of pills, baggies of powder and needles won Stephen Wagoner a first-place ribbon in a school project. The 10-year-old Burlington Elementary student presented his social studies fair project on "How Drugs Have Affected America and Families," after losing his dad to a heroin overdose in November. Continue to get the word out, young man.

2 UNDER 90: That's not the score of any game except the game of life for Waymon Reed. A carpenter by trade and husband of Sarah for 64 years, this fellow turned 88 on May 4. He and his wife also enjoy this column and its chuckles.

CHUCKLE: My friend and I decided to introduce her elderly mother to the magic of the Internet. Our first move was to access the popular Ask Jeeves Web site, and we told her it could answer any question she had. Nancy's mother was very skeptical until she said, "It's true, Mom. Think of something to ask it." As I sat with fingers poised over the keyboard, Nancy's mother thought a minute before responding, "How is Aunt Helen feeling?"
