The Cabell County Board of Education voted this afternoon to offer Marshall University $1.8 million for the University Heights Apartments property. The vote came hours after a public hearing held in the Alumni Lounge in the Memorial Student Center, where Superintendent William Smith, Prestera Center executive director Bob Hansen and many Prestera clients and supporters spoke.

Friday, May 16: 7-9 p.m., Open Mic Night

Saturday, May 17: 2-4 p.m., F. Keith Davis signs his new book "The Feuding Hatfields & McCoys" and also his book "The Secret Life & Brutal Death of Mamie Thurman." Michael Knost signs "Legends of the Mountain State."

Friday, May 23: 8-10 p.m., Award-winning singer-songwriter, Steve Free. Also, 7- 9 p.m. Dave Lavender, author of "Dave Trippin: A Daytripper's Guide to the Appalachian Galaxy of Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia."

Saturday, May 31: 2-4 p.m., Lora Leigh signs "Wicked Pleasure," and Shiloh Walker signs "Through the Veil."
