BARBOURSVILLE FALL FEST QUEEN AND TEEN PAGEANT

The Barboursville Fall Fest Queen and Teen Pageant begins Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Barboursville Middle School auditorium. The pageant is open statewide. Applications can be downloaded by visiting www.barboursville.org.

The pageant is a one-day event with personal interviews beginning at 11 a.m. at the Barboursville Community Center. Contestants are to report to the middle school by 4 p.m., and the pageant will begin at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Entry fees for contestants are $100 for Queen (ages 16-21) and $75 for Teen (ages 13-15). Door admission is $5 with visiting royalty admitted for free. If a teen contestant is 15 on Aug. 15, but will turn 16 by Dec. 31, she may compete in Queen or Teen divisions.

Phases of competition for Queen contestants are personal interview, streetwear, onstage interview and evening gown. The Teen contestants will compete in personal interview, fun outfit of choice and evening gown.

The Queen and Teen will reign over the Barboursville Fall Fest on Sept. 16-19, and the Queen will compete in January at the West Virginia Association of Fairs and Festivals Pageant in Charleston. BARBOURSVILLE FALL FEST CHILDREN'S PAGEANT

The Barboursville Fall Fest Children's Pageant begins Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Steele Memorial United Methodist Church located at 733 Shaw St., in Barboursville. Door admission is $5 per person with one contestant-parent admitted free. Registration begins at 11 a.m. and the pageant will follow at noon. Entry fee is $50.

Overalls will include Photogenic, Best Dressed, Best Personality, Most Beautiful/Most Handsome and Prettiest Smile with fees of $10 each or $35 for all. Overalls are optional and will not affect the outcome of the pageant age division winners. New for this year is "Buddy and Me" with a fee of $5 per buddy and is also optional.

Age divisions are: Baby Miss Fall Fest (birth-11 months), Wee Miss Fall Fest (1-2 years), Tiny Miss Fall Fest (3-4 years), Little Miss Fall Fest (5-7 years), Jr. Miss Fall Fest (8-10 years), Miss Pre-Teen Fall Fest (11-12 years) and Fall Fest King (birth-11 years). All contestants will receive a participation trophy. Age division awards include: Princess/Prince, Photogenic winner and age division winner. Each age division winner will receive a custom made sash, crown and trophy. Overall winners will receive a trophy and sash. Buddy and Me winners receive a crown and fun prize. Entry fee/overall fee deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 1, and should be sent along with a color or black and white photo to the Village of Barboursville City Hall, P.O. Box 266, Barboursville, WV 25504. Pageant winners

MISS TEEN WEST VIRGINIA UNITED STATES

Rachel Ayers, a 16-year-old from Point Pleasant, was crowned Miss Teen West Virginia United States. The competition took place April 4 in Elkins, W.Va. She also won the swimsuit and evening gown competition and participated in the Super Model with Style category.

Winning the title earned Ayers a spot in the national Miss Teen United States pageant which will take place in July in Las Vegas.

MISS WEST VIRGINIA INTERNATIONAL 2009

Katie Wright, a student at Spring Valley High School, was recently crowned Miss Teen West Virginia International 2009.

The pageant took place at the Capital Complex in Charleston. She will go on to compete and represent West Virginia in the Miss Teen International Pageant in Chicago on July 23-25.

In addition to winning the overall crown, Wright was also awarded Most Photogenic, Best Interview and Most Beautiful Gown.
