Fox, CW get head start on fall programming
Fall Premiere Season doesn't start in earnest until Sept. 22, but FOX and the CW are getting a head start on the competition by kicking their fall schedule off next week.
Here's a look at their premiere schedules.
FOX
It all kicks off Labor Day, with the two-hour season premiere of "Prison Break" beginning at 8 p.m.
Wednesday, Sept. 3, the crew of "Bones" travels to England for the two-hour fourth season premiere beginning at 8 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 4, it's the two-hour season premiere of "Kitchen Nightmares" with Gordon Ramsay at 8 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 5, meet the newest class on "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" as Kathy Ireland and Georgia State Superintendent of Schools Kathy Cox compete in a two-hour episode (8 p.m.).
At 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, it's a sneak preview of the newest FOX reality/game show, "Hole In the Wall," hosted by Brooke Burns and Mark Thompson. The premise is that two teams compete against each other, contorting their bodies to fit through moving walls with weird cut-out shapes.
At 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, it's the return of "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," as "Prison Break" moves to its regular timeslot at 9 p.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 8 p.m. it's the premiere of the highly anticipated "Fringe" from executive producer J.J. Abrams. FOX describes the show as "a fantastical thriller about an unlikely trio who uncover a deadly mystery involving a series of unbelievable events and realize they may be a part of a larger, more disturbing pattern that blurs the line between the possible and the impossible." That's followed by another preview of "Hole In the Wall" at 9:35 p.m.
Wednesday, Sept. 10, "Bones" moves into its regular time period at 8 p.m., followed by the season premiere of "'Til Death" (9 p.m.) and the premiere of "Do Not Disturb," a comedy that goes behind the scenes of a hip New York Hotel (9:30 p.m.). The pilot of "Disturb" was directed by Jason Bateman.
Thursday, Sept. 11, "Hole In the Wall" settles into its regular timeslot (8 p.m.) as does "Kitchen Nightmares" (9 p.m.).
Friday, Sept. 12, "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader" (8 p.m.) moves into its regular timeslot, followed by the premiere of "Don't Forget the Lyrics" (9 p.m.).
Tuesday, Sept. 16, "House" returns in its new 8 p.m. timeslot, followed by "Fringe" in its regular timeslot.
FOX's "Animation Domination" returns Sunday, Sept. 28, beginning at 8 p.m. with "The Simpsons," "King of the Hill," "Family Guy" and "American Dad."
CW
The CW is also getting a jump on the competition with two of the most anticipated premieres of the fall. It all kicks off Monday with the season premiere of "Gossip Girl" at 8 p.m. The "Girl" premiere is followed by the season premiere of "One Tree Hill" at 9 p.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 8 p.m., is the two-hour premiere of "90210," the reimagining of "Beverly Hills 90210."
Wednesday, Sept. 3, it's the two-hour season premiere of "America's Next Top Model" beginning at 8 p.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 9, "90210" moves to its regular timeslot at 8 p.m. Then, it's the premiere of "Privileged" at 9 p.m. Based on the book "How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls," the show follows a live-in tutor to wealthy teenage twin sisters in Palm Beach.
Thursday, Sept. 18, it's the premieres of both "Smallville" (8 p.m.) and "Supernatural" (9 p.m.).
Sept. 21, it's the premiere of the CW's outsourced Sunday night. "4 Real" follows celebrities as they meet with young leaders around the world (6 p.m.). "In Harm's Way" is a reality show that showcases people in life-threatening jobs (7 p.m.). "Valentine" follows a match-making family of Greek gods (8 p.m.). "Easy Money" is a dramedy about a family of loan sharks (9 p.m.). They will be joined by the comedy "Surviving Suburbia" on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 7:30 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 3, it's the premieres of "Everybody Hates Chris" (8 p.m.) and "The Game" (8:30 p.m.).
Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 9 p.m., "Stylista," a reality spin on "The Devil Wears Prada" premieres.
