FEATURED AUTHORS: There are dozens of featured authors and programs. Pulitzer-Prize nominee Jean Edward Smith, author of "FDR," at 2:45 p.m. in meeting room 3.
SIGNING AUTHORS: Mystery writer Lisa Scottoline, award-winning Southern writer Sharyn McCrumb and nationally acclaimed biographer Jean Edward Smith headline a list of 70 authors who will take part in the fourth Ohio River Festival of Books.
FOR KIDS: At 10 a.m., the Madcap Puppets perform "The Dream Weavers" in the Ohio room.
FRIDAY NIGHT RECEPTION: Best-selling mystery writer, Lisa Scottoline will speak and sign copies of her newest book, "Lady Killer" at the festival's opening event, a reception at 6 p.m. Friday, March 7. The reception also will feature music by the '37 Flood. Admission is free. However, tickets are required. They may be obtained by visiting or calling the Cabell County Library at (304) 528-5700.
SPONSORS: The Ohio River Festival of Books is a joint undertaking of several local libraries. These include the Cabell County Public Library, Marshall University Libraries, Briggs Lawrence County Public Library, Wayne County Public Library and Ohio University Southern Campus Library. Border's Books, Music & Café at the Huntington Mall is the Festival's prime vendor and a sponsor. Other Festival sponsors include the West Virginia Humanities Council, the Center for the Book, the Huntington Foundation, the Friends of the Library, the Cabell County Commission, the Pilot Club of Huntington, The Herald-Dispatch, Marathon Petroleum, Huntington Business College and the Mansbach Foundation. The Festival is a fundraiser for the Foundation for the Tri-State Community.

CALLING GREEN THUMBS: In conjunction with the WSAZ Home and Garden Show, set for the same Saturday in the adjacent Big Sandy Superstore Arena, the Festival has scheduled two noted gardening experts. Kentucky native Jon Carloftis and one of the nation's premier gardening experts, speaks at 2:45 p.m. Also, Denise Wiles Adams speaks at 1:30 p.m. on "Restoring American Gardens: Ornamental Plans and Landscapes, 1770-1920."
