MILITARY: Army National Guard Pfc. Justin T. Walker graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Justin, a 2002 grad of Easter Carter High is son of Mona Walker of Grayson, Ky., and grandson of Rita Vannatter of Ashland.
60 YEARS: It was a joint effort in some ways, as well as a special occasion when Chesapeake High School Class of 1948 met in June for its 60-year celebration at Bob Evans. Attending were Eva Earles Traylor and husband, Bob; Alice Bone Whitley and husband, Fred Marvin, Bea Smith, Marvin and Dora Jean Fulton, Norris Thacker South, Mavis Blazer Owens, Ruth Brammer Jones, Dolores Pittman Reynolds, Patty Gillen Stanley, Jean Ann Noll Wylie and Carl Galloway.
BABIES: Fifth Avenue Baptist Church families have been blessed with a baby girl and a baby boy. Sophia, born June 3, to Elizabeth and Larik Woronzoff, is granddaughter of Tony and Mary Lou Williams. Max, born June 8, to Taylor and Josh Carey, is grandson of Greg and Denise Bellomy.
MEMBER: Congratulations to Mrs. Veena Rellan -- she recently became a member of the Huntington Rose Society.

CONDOLENCES: Prayers and thoughts to the family of Thelma Beatrice Adkins, who passed away June 11. I never met Thelma, but she always seemed to enjoy my version of the bulletin when I attended Milton's Lighthouse Baptist Church. The presence, wisdom and kindness of this fine lady will definitely be missed.
RECIPIENTS: Chris Porter and Michael "Rosie" Bosher received their Wood Badge beads at the recent Roundtable for Tri-State Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. Chris, a registered nurse at St. Mary's Medical Center for more than 30 years, is the health officer at scouting events, a vigil honor member of OA and a long-time district commissioner. Rosie, known from almost every scouting activity at Ona's Camp Arrowhead, is a member of Troop 42, a vigil honor member of OH and Muguyoh District commissioner.
HONORED: Wayne County Library Board honored a former board member who recently passed away -- Samuel F. Colvin Jr., who served on Wayne County Library Board from 1977 to 2002. The meeting room at Ceredo-Kenova Memorial Public Library was named in his honor. The efforts of this late board member helped build the new C-K library that was dedicated in 1985.

CHUCKLE: A scoutmaster asked a troop member what good deed he had done for the day. "Well," said the boy. "Mom had only one dose of castor oil left, so I let my baby brother have it."
